The Barack Knack

It was impersonators’ heaven during the time George W. Bush was in power as the 43rd President of the United States of America. He had a plethora of peculiar quirks and speech slip-ups that gave impersonators a lot to work with – it was irresistible. But when Barack Obama swept the nation away to become the 44th and current U.S. President, impersonators found themselves with a genuine challenge this time.

President Obama is a much more polished public speaker and rarely has any embarrassing mishaps during his speeches, which means that people must pay careful attention to his subtle speech patterns in order to pull off a passable impression of the way he speaks. There is also a certain charisma in the way he carries himself that makes it even harder to emulate.

However, that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been attempted. Here are two noteworthy impressions of President Obama:

I think the impersonator in the first video, Iman Crosson, did a great impression of Obama’s physical mannerisms. His Obama voice was done quite well too and I liked how he layered it with a sense of humour that seems fitting to Obama’s character. But I have to say that Marlin Hill in the second video undoubtedly has both Obama’s voice and speech pattern bang-on.

If Iman Crosson and Marlin Hill were to join forces, they would make a perfect Barack Obama impression. Kudos on a job exceptionally well done!
