I recently discovered this video that examines the various theories about the origins of humans and how neither Creationism or Evolutionism can fully explain how we came about. It is a very enlightening video titled, The Mysterious Origins Of Man:
I especially like how the video touches upon the less-popular speculation that the lost civilization of Atlantis may very well lie beneath the ice sheets of Antarctica. Heavily influenced by Plato’s records, many people doggedly try to find evidence of Atlantis’ existence in the Atlantic Ocean or the Mediterranean Sea…and neglect to contemplate the mysterious ice continent. In my opinion, Antarctica is one of the most plausible locations for Atlantis. I hope that more Atlantis research will be placed on Anarctica in the near future.
Furthermore, I am one of those who believe that our origins can be explained by a merging of the Creationism and Evolutionism theories – not by only one or the other. However, I will discuss this in a later post because coincidentally, I will be involved in a play called, Inherit The Wind, which debates these very two theories on different ends of the spectrum.

I doubt an actual ‘Atlantis’ will ever be found. Certainly, the idea of Atlantis could apply to a lost civilisation, based upon a pre-agricultural fisheries revolution, and wiped out as sea levels rose in the last ice age. But Atlantis as we know it was, I think, simply a political allegory by Plato.

That may be so but how would you explain the “anomalies” in many archaelogical finds? There have been many instances where a tool or a technological marvel has been unearthed and it was discovered to date to an era where it couldn’t have existed at our present assumption of the technology at that time.
Moreover, some of the structures built in the ancient times that still stand today have been designed with an accuracy that rivals our current level – not to mention the precision in which many of the structures were astronomically aligned. Could our ancestors have been able to accomplish all this when they didn’t have computers or even the help of power tools back then?
The logical conclusions to this puzzle are either the archaelogists made an error in their calculations (which is highly unlikely as they are professionals in their field), or there was an advanced civilization that co-existed with our ancient ancestors and assisted in their growth through their technological contributions.
Perhaps, as you said, Atlantis will never be found and that it had truly been destroyed by the last ice age. However, this would not mean that it never could have existed. Because I doubt that our ancestors could have handcrafted all those marvels on their own without any form of assistance from another source.
